Sitting outside the medicine den, the tall savannah sat by himself, grooming his tawny fur. Minepaw had recently done some training with his mentor, Hurricanevortex, and felt pretty confident in his abilities to heal. Healing was his favorite thing to do. The savannah found pleasure in helping his clanmates through herbs, rather than hunting or fighting. Of course, he knew some fighting techniques, and he'd probably ask Micropaw to teach him how to hunt at some point, but for now, he was an apprentice who only knew how to heal, and he liked that.

"Minepaw? Are you there?" Micropaw poked his head into the medicine den and looked around for his brother. The solid white tom blinked in the soft light filtering through the brambles into the den, adjusting his vision.

The apprentice's ears pricked up when he heard his brother's voice. "I'm right here." Minepaw mewed, trotting over. "Hey Micropaw." he purred.

Minepaw nodded, smiling. "Yeah. Hurricanevortex was teaching me a few things. She's such a great mentor." he purred, happy to be talking about the older female.

"the store is well-stocked, so are you free to go out on a hunt? or a walk if you're tired?" micropaw asked hopefully, blue eyes shining.

Excited about hunting, Minepaw nosed his way out of the den and into the camp. Turning around, the savanna waited for his brother, eyes gleaming.

micropaw shook the leaves out of his fur and trotted out into the forest, looking back to make sure his brother was following him. "now i think we'll focus on stuff like mice and voles, you know how they smell like right?"

Minepaw nodded. "Of course I do." he said. What his brother said made sense; mice and voles were obviously easier to hunt than birds and squirrels.

The tawny male raised his head to sniff the air. He smelled a squirrel, and . . . mice! "I smell a mouse." Minepaw stated, turning to Micropaw.
