Whiskers quivering, the young apprentice limped into the den, favoring her right front paw. Spiderpaw had been fishing by the river, but when she shot her paw into the water to hook a large trout, she hit a rock on accident. Now there was a cut on her pad and the paw was throbbing. "Wickerbasket? Geminipaw?" the ruddy abyssinian called.

"Yes, Spiderpaw? Oh, that's bleeding! Sit down." Wickerbasket ordered. Than she hurried to the back of the den for herbs. The shecat grabbed some cobwebs and a poppy seed. "Here, eat this. So what happened?" Than the medicine cat proceeded to attempt to wrap the wound with cobwebs to stop the bleeding.

The cut didn't hurt too much, but the apprentice still ate the poppy seed after sitting down, which lessened the stinging feeling. Spiderpaw held up her paw as Wickerbasket began to apply cobwebs, watching carefully.

"I was at the river fishing, but I must have misjudged how shallow the water was, because I tried to catch a fish and hit my paw on a sharp rock." Spiderpaw explained.

"What's wrong? Oh, your paw." the black smoke mau tom murmured with a slight flick of his bobbed tail. Half the tom's face was ripped clean away by dogs, so the right side hardly functioned. He was quite large, though. Dark yellow eyes wavered, and he glanced at Wickerbasket for guidance.

Spiderpaw flinched slightly at the sight of the medicine cat apprentice's face, although tried her best to hide it. She didn't want to offend him. "Yup." she murmured.

Geminipaw just grinned and hurried away, blushing at her attempt to hide the surprised look at his face "Y-Yes. I'll go get some marigold, Wickerbasket.

"Get some nettle leaves and dock leaves too!" She ordered her apprentice as he went to the storage place. The medicine cat unraped the paw and looked it over, while waiting for the correct herbs to arrive. "I will be rubbing some nettle and dock leaves and than we shall apply a marigold poutice.

The tom nodded and then scurried away into the the back where the herbs were managed. He nudged the nettle and dock leaves towards his maw. He picked them both up and idly grabbed the marigold as well. He scurried back over and dropped them on the ground carefully "H-Here you go." he stammered, looking at his paws.

"Good. Now chew the marigold and ready some cobwebs! I will rub the dock and nettle on the wound and surrounding area." The medicine cat added. She took the dock leaf and began to rub it in a circular motion till the leaf was worn. Next to lessen the swelling she took a nettle leaf and rubbed the paw. Wickerbasket meowed, "Geminipaw please put the marigold on the wound and wrap it in cobwebs. You should be good Spiderpaw."

Geminipaw nodded once again and then bent down to chew the marigold. He wrinkled his nose at the taste and grabbed some cobwebs and spat the mixture out on the wound. He wrapped the webs around her paw delicately, his eyes focused.

Spiderpaw watched with wide eyes as the medicine cat and her apprentice worked together. The two seemed like a perfect pair; acting immediately, not questioning one's motives. The abyssinian wished she could be like that with someone. She seemed the most interested in Geminipaw, eyeing him the entire time. But her gaze wasn't fixed on the mauled side of his face. She had her eyes locked with his.
